My name is Maddie, and I am View’s new summer intern. I am so excited to spend the summer learning about marketing, graphic design and entrepreneurship. Before I get into what I am looking forward to and hoping to learn, here’s a little bit about me! I just finished my sophomore year at Wheaton College, where I am studying Business Economics and Graphic Design. At school, I am involved in Media Team and Transfer Student Orientation, and outside of school I love to take dance classes, spend time outside, and do anything creative! I’ve always loved art and business, and I feel very fortunate to be able to study both and combine the two in what I hope to pursue as a career. This is my first internship ever, so getting to do one with VIEW is a dream come true and I’m so excited for all that is to come!
This summer, I am excited to learn more about the ins and outs of the company. I am super interested in the day-to-day workflow and operations and am looking forward to being involved in them. I just started taking graphic design and marketing classes this past semester once I finished my gen eds, so putting them into practice will be very exciting for me. I can’t wait to build upon those skills and watch them grow as they are put to practical use.
During my time here, I am hoping to learn more about running your own company, and managing different clients, tasks, and marketing campaigns. As an entrepreneur, you get to do such a wide range of operations, which seems so exciting and challenging at the same time. The idea of being your own boss is one that excites me, but I also know how much responsibility and liability it realistically involves. So, one of the most exciting things to me about this internship is the ability to see just what everyday decision-making as a business owner looks like, from large decisions to small ones, including how to spend each day. I am also really looking forward to learning about more specific marketing/graphic design skills and getting to apply them. Some of these include creative branding, search engine optimization, keeping up with social media accounts, blog writing skills, etc.! I already have learned a lot about staying within a company's brand while designing for them, using Adobe programs more efficiently, and staying organized when you're keeping track of lots and lots of files!
I am so thankful for this opportunity and can’t wait to update you with all I have learned. In just a couple weeks I have already soaked up so much and am so excited to see what this summer with VIEW has in store.
